John Bernecker doubled for Will Ferrell, Channing Tatum, Jay Baruchel and many more stars in his impressive career as a Hollywood stuntman.
Tragically, Bernecker died Wednesday evening, succumbing to blunt-force trauma injuries that he sustained in a fall while working in Georgia on a scene for AMC’s “The Walking Dead.” Bernecker’s death was ruled an accident by the Coweta County Coroner’s Office.
Bernecker fell off a 25-foot-high balcony Wednesday afternoon on the set of the show in Georgia. AMC halted production as he was rushed to Atlanta Medical Center.
“We are saddened to report that John Bernecker, a talented stuntman for ‘The Walking Dead’ and numerous other television shows and films, suffered serious injuries from a tragic accident on set,” a spokesperson for the series said in a statement before Bernecker was pronounced dead. AMC did not immediately respond to TheWrap‘s request for comment on his passing.
Bernecker’s filmography includes 92 credits as a stuntman and 13 credits as a traditional actor, including a role in 2017’s “Logan.”
His résumé also includes work on “24: Legacy,” “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter,” three of the “Hunger Games” films, “Black Panther” and “The Fate of the Furious.”
