Joey McIntyre is the new kid on the block in CBS's comedy pilot "The McCarthys."
The boy-bander turned actor has step-by-stepped his way into a role on the Will Gluck pilot, which revolves around a loud, sports-crazed Boston clan. McIntyre will play Gerard McCarthy, the family's resident resentful short guy.

McIntyre joins a cast that already includes Jacki Weaver (as Marjorie McCarthy) and Jack McGee (as Arthur).
Gluck ("Easy A") is executive producing the pilot, with Brian Gallivan ("Are You There, Chelsea?") writing and serving as co-executive producer.
The project is being produced by Sony Television in association with Gluck's Olive Bridge.
Since bounding into the spotlight as a member of New Kids on the Block, McIntyre has built up his acting credits, including a run on "Boston Public" and guest spots on "90210" and "CSI: NY."
