Joel Meyer to Succeed Gary Goodman as Lionsgate Television Worldwide Production Head

Goodman will take an early retirement package just one year after signing a multi-year deal to continue overseeing production of its scripted shows

Lionsgate has promoted Joel Meyer to executive vice president of worldwide production for its television unit, succeeding Gary Goodman who decided to take an early retirement package, an individual with knowledge told TheWrap.

In his new role, Meyer will be responsible for overseeing the studio’s slate of premium scripted series as well as its East Coast production facilities in Yonkers, N.Y., Atlanta, Ga. and Newark, N.J the company announced Thursday.

“He has led the charge on many key series while navigating the pandemic and the strikes, and his leadership and dedication will be critical to moving our Television Group forward,” Lionsgate Television Group Chair & Chief Creative Officer Kevin Beggs and Vice Chairman Sandra Stern said in a joint statement.
