Joe Pesci will once again play a mobster, this time in the independently produced John Gotti biopic "Gotti: Three Generations."
He stars with John Travolta and Travolta's daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, the producers announced at a New York press conference Tuesday.
In "Gotti," Pesci will play Angelo Ruggiero, who worked for the notorious title character, who will be played by Travolta.
Nick Cassavetes ("Blow," "John Q") is directing. Marc Fiore is producing, Fay Devlin, Michael Froch, Rob Logozio, Marty Ingels, Anson Downes, Linda Favila are executive producers.
Pesci, of course, won the best supporting actor Oscar for the role of gangster Tommy DeVito in 1990's "Goodfellas."
In a written statement, Pesci said, "I'm really happy to be making this picture with my good friend Nick Cassavetes. It's going to be a great experience and a rare opportunity to look inside the life of Gotti."

Travolta's daughter's role has not yet been announced, but Tuesday's press conference, producers said that the younger Travolta will have a featured role.
Actor-writer Leo Rossi wrote the screenplay.
The movie focuses on the head of the Gambino crime family, and his relationship with his son, John Gotti Jr., who became a "made man" when he was 24.
The younger Gotti ultimately decided to leave the organized-crime business.
Production is expected to begin in the fall with a release date late in 2012.
