"Contact" star Jodie Foster is returning to sci-fi territory, as the two-time Oscar-winning actress is in talks to join the cast of Neill Blomkamp's "Elysium," her publicist has confirmed to TheWrap.
The Oscar-nominated filmmaker's secretive follow-up to "District 9" will star that movie's leading man, Sharlto Copley, as well as Matt Damon.
Simon Kinberg ("X-Men: First Class") is producing the Media Rights Capital project, which has not been shopped to studios yet.
Foster was last seen on the big screen in 2008's "Nim's Island" and will next star opposite Mel Gibson in "The Beaver," a dark comedy that she also directed from a Black List-topping screenplay by Kyle Killen. Summit Entertainment will release the film on March 25.
Foster is currently preparing to star alongside fellow Oscar winners Kate Winslet and Christoph Waltz in Roman Polanski's adaptation of Yasmina Reza's Tony Award-winning play "God of Carnage."
Foster is represented by ICM and her casting was first reported by Deadline.
