Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker has a new catchphrase. Instead of “Why so serious” the tagline for “Joker” as revealed on the first official poster for the film is “Put on a Happy Face.”

The otherwise sparse poster shows Phoenix in full clown makeup and some bloody splotches looking toward the heavens and extending his hands out as if to say “It’s showtime!”

Director Todd Phillips shared the poster on Instagram on Tuesday and promised that a teaser trailer will drop Wednesday at CinemaCon in Las Vegas.

Phoenix stars in “Joker,” which is an origin story for the iconic Batman villain. In it, Phoenix plays a failed stand-up comedian who is driven insane to become a psychopathic murderer.

Phillips wrote the screenplay for “Joker” with Scott Silver, and it has been described as a character study and a “cautionary tale.”

Robert De Niro, Zazie Beetz, Shea Whigham, Frances Conroy, Marc Maron, Douglas Hodge and Brett Cullen co-star.

DC and Warner Bros. are releasing the film on Oct. 4. Check out the poster below:
