Jimmy Kimmel applauded Herschel Walker’s son, Christian Walker, Tuesday for calling out his father’s alleged lies on his “family values” and his ongoing abortion scandal from 2009. The late night host then drew a comparison to Donald Trump’s sons, Eric and Don Jr.
“Eric and Don Jr. are like, ‘Holy crap, you can do that?’” Kimmel joked after playing Christian’s video in which he condemned his father for lying about paying for a girlfriend’s abortion. “Herschel’s like, ‘Oops, I should’ve aborted that one, too.’ It’s gonna be a fun Thanksgiving at the Walker’s.”
Kimmel’s jabbing at the ongoing controversy surrounding the Georgian Senate candidate comes in the wake of the Daily Beast’s report earlier this week that Walker paid for a girlfriend’s abortion in 2009, despite claiming to be pro-life. The evidence was in a $700 check and a get well soon card with the football player’s signature. Though the former athlete denied the allegation Monday as a “flat-out lie,” and said he would be suing the publication for defamation (a development that’s yet to come to fruition), his son, conservative social media influencer Christian Walker accused him of lying about the abortion, as well as his claim to having upstanding “family values.”
“The abortion part drops yesterday, it’s literally his handwriting in the card, they say they have receipts, whatever, he gets on Twitter, he lies about it,” Christian said in a video posted online. “OK, I’m done. Done. Everything has been a lie.”
Kimmel ridiculed Herschel’s response to the accusations, noting that the candidate “did what people in his position do when something like this happens: He ran straight to Sean Hannity to deny, deny, deny.”
Kimmel also slammed Walker for sending the funds for the abortion via check instead of using cash, saying, “Imagine being so stupid you write a check for an abortion you want to keep secret.”
“If you’re wondering where you can get a card like that,” he continued, “you can find them right next to the dads and grads section at CVS.”
