Jimmy Fallon Loves New Late-Night Competition Stephen Colbert: ‘The More the Merrier’ (Video)

“Tonight Show” host also recaps recent string of injuries while appearing on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show”

Jimmy Fallon isn’t afraid of his new late-night TV competition, Stephen Colbert. In fact, he loves the former Comedy Central personality so much he’s sure there’s enough room for everybody.

“I love Stephen,” Fallon told Ellen DeGeneres on Friday’s episode of her daytime talk show. “I mean he’s, just as you know, one of the nicest guys out there. So I think the more the merrier. I think it just brings more attention to late night. It gets more people watching TV in general. So I think we all win. I mean there’s room for everybody.”

Fallon also spoke with DeGeneres about his recent string of injuries, like how he nearly tore his finger off and then subsequently chipped his tooth.

“It seems that we have the safest job in the world where you couldn’t get injured,” DeGeneres joked. “We’re sitting down, we’re talking to people. You’ve been a comedian most of your life.”

So, in order to keep Fallon safe, DeGeneres presented him with a padded suit, gloves, and a helmet in order to protect himself against further injuries.
