Jim Parsons has joined the cast of the Ted Bundy film, “Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Zac Efron will play the notorious serial killer in the drama that will be directed by “Paradise Lost” helmer Joe Berlinger. The story will be told from the perspective of Bundy’s longtime girlfriend, Elizabeth (played by Lily Collins), who went years denying the accusations against Bundy, but ultimately turned him into the police.
Kaya Scodelario will play Bundy’s ex-wife, Carole Anne Boone. Parsons will play Larry Simpson, the lead prosecutor in the 1979 Miami trial that convicted Bundy.
Voltage Pictures and COTA Entertainment are producing the project, alongside Michael Simkin and Jason Barrett of Efron’s Ninjas Runnin’ Wild. Ara Keshishian, Nicolas Chartier, and Michael Costigan will be producing via Voltage and COTA.
Parsons most recently starred in the Sundance film, “A Kid Like Jake,” and the award-winning film “Hidden Figures.” He also continues to star as Sheldon Cooper on “The Big Bang Theory” and its spinoff, “Young Sheldon.”
Parsons is represented by CAA, Principal Entertainment and Gang Tyre.
