Jim Packer Named President of Lionsgate’s Worldwide Television Distribution and Digital

Former MGM exec will try to sell shows and improve digital distribution

Lionsgate has hired Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer president Jim Packer to help expand the company's growth in television.

In the new position of president of worldwide television distribution and digital, Packer will sell Lionsgate shows domestically and internationally and try to improve digital distribution. The company's TV show's include AMC's "Mad Men," Showtime's "Nurse Jackie" and "Weeds," and TBS' "House of Payne."

Packer joined MGM in 2001 and most recently served as co-president of worldwide TV.
