“The Daily Show” correspondent Jessica Williams is leaving the Comedy Central flagship show.
The move comes a few months after the comedian struck a development deal with the network to create a narrative scripted pilot, which she will also executive produce.
Thursday night’s episode of “The Daily Show” will be Williams’ last.
Williams joined “The Daily Show” in 2012 and promptly made history as the first black woman named as a correspondent and the youngest to ever hold the position.
” I feel like I’ve learned a lot about myself on the show,” Williams told EW in an interview after her departure date was finalized. “I’m 26 now. I’ve learned so much, I always kind of feel like it’s grad school — a sort of continuation of my education.”
Comedy Central made the move official on its Twitter Wednesday, posting a highlight reel of Williams’ work on “The Daily Show,” where she comically reported on the news of the day alongside Jon Stewart, John Oliver and current host Trevor Noah.
You nailed it on The #DailyShow, @msjwilly. We’re thrilled to make more stuff with you. Cue awesome highlight reel.https://t.co/mE27qI64MF
