Jennifer Hudson Brings Back the ’90s and Takes Control in ‘Walk It Out’ Music Video

New track, produced by Timbaland and J-Roc, is from Hudson’s anticipated third studio album

It’s the 1990s all over again on Jennifer Hudson‘s latest single, “Walk It Out.” The Oscar-winning actress and former “American Idol” contestant released the video for her track, off of her forthcoming third studio album, and it takes us right back to the last decade of the 20th Century.

The single, which was produced by Timbaland and J-Roc, and the accompany video were filled with ’90s nostalgia like JHud’s hoop earrings, jacket and high-waisted pants, though the latter is making a comeback. Those high-heel sneakers, though, are straight out of the now.

The track even throws in a reference to Aaliyah’s 1998 hit “Are You That Somebody.” It also features a very modern sensibility with its themes of female empowerment and women taking control of their own romantic lives.

The as-yet-untitled album is expected to be released in 2014. “Walk It Out” is the second single released from the album, after “I Can’t Describe (The Way I Feel),” which was produced by Pharrell Williams, and released in September 2013.
