Jay Z’s Made in America music festival is coming to Los Angeles, the rapper announced on the steps of City Hall Wednesday with Mayor Eric Garcetti, despite concerns from some City Council members that the concert’s large crowds, drinking and noise would be disruptive for downtown L.A. residents.
“Los Angeles is the perfect place, the perfect West Coast home for Made in America,” Garcetti said. The festival could draw up to 50,000 concertgoers, according to Garcetti.

The Budweiser-sponsored festival kicked off in Philadelphia over Labor Day weekend in 2012. The L.A. festival will be held at Grand Park, adjacent to City Hall and will run simultaneously with Philadelphia’s concert on Aug. 30 and 31.
The park, which the city opened to the public in 2012, has been nicknamed the “people’s park,” and Jay Z said he’s happy the festival will be held the area “in the middle of the city.”

“It’s inclusion, it’s not exclusive,” the music mogul said. The Budweiser Made in America Festival has attracted top talent in the past, including Jay Z’s wife, Beyonce, as well as Pearl Jam, Nine Inch Nails, Phoenix, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis and Drake. However, the list of performers at the two-day concert has not yet been announced.
