America didn’t quite get the Blue Wave many in Hollywood hoped for Tuesday, but they did get a Rainbow Wave in Colorado: Stars from James Corden to Billy Eichner rejoiced as Jared Polis won in Colorado to become the first openly gay governor in American history.

Polis defeated Republican state Treasurer Walker Stapleton, the Associated Press reported. He will succeed term-limited Democratic Gov. John Hickenlooper.

“Wow!! Congratulations @jaredpolis of Colorado who just became the first openly gay man to be elected Governor in US History!!!,” wrote Eichner.

Corden, host of CBS’ “Late Late Show” added: “This is incredible! Massive. Congratulations Jared Polis. You did it!”

Jaboukie Young-White, who was recently named the newest correspondent on Comedy Central’s “The Daily Show With Trevor Noah,” was also a fan of Polis’ win, writing: “jared polis is the first openly gay governor in the u.s. and i openly stan”

Overall, Election Night was a mixed-bag. Democrats won the House — which will give them subpoena power to investigate President Trump — while Republicans will keep control of the Senate.

Two of Hollywood’s most-loved candidates — Texas Senate hopeful Beto O’Rourke and Georgia gubernatorial candidate Stacey Abrams — couldn’t overcome the odds to beat Republicans in traditionally red states.
