Jane Lynch Reenacts Steve Harvey’s Miss Universe Mishap at People’s Choice Awards (Video)

The host presents a fake award to Tom Lennon only to admit she accidentally “read the card wrong”

Steve Harvey accidentally declared the wrong winner at the Miss Universe pageant almost three weeks ago, but Jane Lynch still thought it was so funny that she decided to recreate the mishap at the People’s Choice Awards on Wednesday night.

“We’re trying something new this year,” said Lynch, who was the host of the evening. “This year, People’s Choice Awards has picked one entertainer who, for whatever reason, has never won a People’s Choice Award but who we believe is deserving of one.”

Lynch then presented a fake award to Tom Lennon, who walked up to the stage to accept the award, only to be interrupted by the host during his acceptance speech.

“I’m sorry. I have to apologize here. First runner-up is Tom Lennon,” Lynch announced. “The winner is Miss Colombia!”

With a look of utter shock, Lennon has to watch a fake Miss Colombia walk onto the stage to accept the award.

“Listen, it’s my fault, I didn’t bother to come to dress rehearsal and man, I just read the card wrong,” Lynch added.

On Dec. 20, Harvey mistakenly declared Miss Colombia Ariadna Gutierrez the Miss Universe winner instead of Miss Philippines Pia Wurtzbach.
