James Wan’s production company Atomic Monster has acquired the rights to and will produce the film adaptation of Nick Cutter’s book “The Troop.” E. L. Katz is set to direct.
“The Troop” follows a group of teens on a remote camping trip, who are forced to fend for themselves when their chaperone falls prey to an otherworldly infection.
Noah Gardner and Aidan Fitzgerald (“The Trench”) are writing the screenplay, based on Cutter’s book. Michael Clear is also serving as producer, while Judson Scott is overseeing the project on behalf of Atomic Monster, which is producing alongside JS Entertainment and Starlight Media.
Atomic Monster’s other upcoming projects are “The Conjuring 3” starring Vera Farmiga and Patrick Wilson, as well as “Mortal Kombat” and “There’s Someone Inside Your House.” Wan will also direct an untitled horror film next. He is represented by Paradigm, Stacey Testro International and Mortimer PR.
Wan’s most recent producing credits include “Annabelle Comes Home” and “The Curse of La Llorona.” He also recently directed “Aquaman.”
Katz’s directing credits include one episode of “Scream: The TV Series” and six episodes of “Channel Zero.” He is represented by CAA and Grandview.
