James Gandolfini Death: Fans Flock to YouTube for Clips of Late ‘Sopranos’ Star (Videos)

A "Sesame Street" clip has proven popular in the wake of the actor's sudden death

James Gandolfini's sudden death Wednesday sparked a flurry of YouTube activity related to "The Sopranos" star.

The video sharing site told TheWrap that users have been uploading clips about the late actor at a rapid clip, and his name has been a popular search term.

"More than half of all the videos naming James Gandolfini in them were uploaded in the last 24 hours," a representative from YouTube told TheWrap.

A "Sesame Street" appearance, wherein the actor reveals what scares him, was re-uploaded on Thursday. By mid-day Friday, it had more than 500,000 views. MovieClips released a tribute video on the same day, and quickly racked up more than 100,000 views.

Searches for "James Gandolfini" topped 5 million on the video sharing site on Wednesday, and was the site's most searched phrase on the day of the actor's death. As TheWrap previously reported, Amazon and iTunes sales of "The Sopranos" DVD's and instant videos spiked since the actor's death of a heart attack in Italy.
