James Franco, Zoe Kravitz, Jack Reynor and Dennis Quaid are set to star in the sci-fi action thriller “Kin,” an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.
Jonathan and Josh Baker will direct the film, which is based on their short film “Bag Man.” The story, written by Daniel Casey, follows a recently released ex-convict (Reynor) and his adopted brother who are forced on the run while being chased by a vengeful criminal (Franco). Their only weapon is a mysterious piece of ancestry.
WME Global and Good Universe will handle the sale of the film, which will launch at next week’s Toronto Film Festival.
Shawn Levy and Dan Cohen at 21 Laps will produce with No Trace Camping’s Jeff Arkuss, David Gross and Jesse Shapira. Recent credits for 21 Laps include Netflix’s hit show “Stranger Things” and Denis Villeneuve‘s sci-fi thriller “Arrival,” which will debut at the Venice Film Festival.
No Trace Camping produced the Oscar-winning film “Room” starring Brie Larson and Jacob Tremblay.
Shooting is set to begin on Oct. 24.
Franco recently starred in “Sausage Party” alongside Bill Hader, Seth Rogen and Kristen Wiig. His upcoming projects include “The Long Home” and “The Mad Whale.”
Kravitz was most recently seen in “Allegiant” and “Dope,” and she will next star in the TV series “Big Little Lies” and the Harry Potter spinoff “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.”
