Sam Smith released the theme song for the new James Bond movie, “Spectre,” on Friday.
Smith premiered the song on UK radio before it became available on iTunes and Spotify. “I have been dreaming of this moment for a long long time,” Smith tweeted. “Thank you for all your amazing messages. Today is such a special day for me and I am so grateful to everyone supporting this track.”
Smith co-wrote “Writing’s On The Wall” with fellow Grammy winner Jimmy Napes. It is the first James Bond theme song recorded by a British male solo artist since 1965.
Smith now joins the pantheon of other musicians who have recorded Bond themes that includes Adele, Madonna, Paul McCartney, and Tina Turner.
In “Spectre,” James Bond (Daniel Craig) receives a cryptic message from his past that puts him on the trail of a sinister crime syndicate.
“Spectre” opens in U.S. theaters Nov. 6.
