Jada Pinkett Smith Confirms Playing ‘Magic Mike XXL’ Character ‘Written for a Male’

The “Gotham” star confirmed rumors on during Monday’s “Queen Latifah Show”

“Gotham” star Jada Pinkett Smith will be playing a character originally written for a male in “Magic Mike XXL.”

The actress opened up about joining “beefcakes” Channing Tatum, Matt Bomer and Joe Manganiello in director Gregory Jacobs’ sequel to 2012 hit “Magic Mike” during an appearance on Monday’s episode of “The Queen Latifah Show.”

“Yes, you know, Channing and Gregory and Warner Bros. really took a chance,” Smith told Latifah during the interview (above). “There was a character written for a male that they wanted to turn into a female.”

Smith would not give many details about her character, but assured she would not be stripping. Rumor has it she’ll be playing a strip club owner.

“I can’t really reveal it yet, but I’m excited about it,”Smith added.

Amber Heard is set to play a female lead in the film hitting theaters on July 1 in 2015, while Andie MacDowell will also have a role.

Matthew McConaughey, the actor who played the ring leader of the male stripping crew, will not be involved in the sequel due to a scheduling conflict with Gus van Sant’s upcoming drama “Sea of Trees.”

“Magic Mike XXL,” which Steven Soderbergh will produce, shoot and edit, will follow Tatum’s crew as they embark on a road trip for stripper conventions.

“I’m used to that kind of beefcake-ness in my environment,” Smith added. “I can handle it!”
