Mark Burnett will produce a prison talent show for the crime-centric cable channel Investigation Discovery that's tentatively titled "Talent Behind Bars."
Discovery president and general manager Henry Schleiff announced the projects at the annual TCA summer press tour.
“We’re not trying to be exploitative, we’re trying to be entertaining,” Schleiff said.
Schleiff said the show isn't taking advantage of the prisoners because it might offer them a shot at "redemption." He also pointed out that violent criminals won't be part of the cast.
Investigation Discovery is also putting together a dance competition with the working title "Dancing Behind Bars."
