There are still a few shopping days before Christmas, but Instagram is slapping a bow on official numbers for its most-liked photos of 2014.
“#Love” has been the most popular hashtag used on the social platform the past two years, a spokesperson for Instagram told TheWrap. So it’s no surprise the most popular photos this year contain star couples.
Mr. and Mrs. Kanye West’s wedding portrait, from their May nuptials in Italy, not only clocked 2.74 million likes to become the most-liked photo of the year, it set an Instagram record for most-liked of all time.
At a distant second comes a snap of Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez, a sweet shot from the famous pair who enjoy a turbulent on-and-off-again romance. Uploaded from Bieber’s account, theirs netted 1.9 million likes.
In third comes not a romantic couple, but two musical BFFs with legion fans: Ariana Grande’s post of the “Break Free” singer smooching Miley Cyrus, which got 1.84 million likes.
In 2013, the company reported more than 150 million iPhone and Android app users. Facebook acquired Instagram in 2012, to the tune of $1 billion in cash and stock.
