Netflix dropped the trailer for its dark comedy series “Insatiable” on Thursday, giving viewers a short peek at Alyssa Milano as the mom of an overweight-turned-attractive student in the process.
Disney alum Debby Ryan stars as the lead character Patty, aka “fatty Patty” to the jerk students at her school.
“While my classmates were out losing their virginity, I was at home, stuffing another hole,” laments Patty in the trailer.
But after having her jaw wired shut, Patty slims down and becomes the proverbial hot girl out for “revenge,” as she puts it.
There’s a lot going on here in the trailer. Punches being thrown, erratic driving, make out sessions, a church baptism that resembles a wet t-shirt contest and Alyssa Milano growling that she wants “to punch her in her b—h face.” The target of Milano’s wrath is uncertain, but it will surely be revealed after the series debuts on Aug. 10 on Netflix.
The response on Twitter looks overwhelmingly positive at first blush, too. “Yaaas, I can’t wait!” replied @obrienties to the official “Insatiable” handle, while @celestondeck said the show looks “SO GOOD I CAN’T BREATHE” in all caps. A few users in the show’s mentions didn’t seem thrilled with its fat-to-fit theme, though: “The concept of this show is so frustrating,” replied @keilahrae.
Along with Ryan and Milano, Dallas Roberts stars in the show from writer Lauren Gussis (“Dexter,” “Once Upon A Time”). “Insatiable” is produced by Ryan Seacrest Productions and Storied Media Group.
