Sony Pictures' "Darling Companion" opened to $46,296 on just four screens over the weekend.
Director Lawrence Kasdan's tale of a woman who loves her dog more than her husband, starring Diane Keaton, Kevin Kline and Dianne Wiest, posted an impressive $11,574 per screen average in its first weekend.
"Marley," Kevin Macdonald's documentary on the reggae icon, brought in $260,000 from 42 locations, an average of $6,190 per screen, according to distributor Magnolia Pictures. The film debuted on video on demand as well as in theaters.
Another film opening this weekend, "Jesus Henry Christ," from Hopscotch Pictures and Red Om and executive produced by Julia Roberts, took in only $9,298 total, on three screens.

Sony's "Raid Redemption" upped its North American overall gross to $3.5 million, taking in $480,866 from 548 screens.

The Weinstein Company's documentary "Bully," in its fourth week of release — its second with a PG-13 rating — raised its overall domestic gross to $1.5 million by taking in $505,000 from 263 locations, a solid $1,920 per screen average.
