MSNBC had the most viewers on Friday afternoon as the Senate impeachment trial picked back up, both in total averages and viewers in the advertiser-coveted 25-54 demographic. Fox News had the most viewers tune in to see primetime analysis and coverage.
From 12:30p.m. to 3 p.m. ET, MSNBC had 1.515 million viewers total tune in on average for the coverage of the fourth day of the President Donald Trump’s impeachment trial in the Senate, according to early Nielsen data. Of that 1.515 million, 250,000 were in the 25-54 demographic. Fox News pulled in 1.398 million total average viewers with 280,000 in the demo, giving the network the win for ages 25-54. Finally, CNN had 979,000 total average viewers. Of those, 240,000 were in the demo.
In primetime Friday night, from 8 p.m. ET to 11 p.m. ET, Fox News led the way with 3.846 million total average viewers and 584,000 in the demo. Next was MSNBC with 2.788 million total average viewers. Of them, 467,000 were in the demo. CNN saw 1.314 million total viewers and 296,000 in the demo.
The Senate convened Friday around 1 p.m. ET for a fourth day in Trump’s impeachment trial. The Democrats, led by House impeachment managers named by Speaker Nancy Pelosi, began laying out their arguments in favor of impeachment Wednesday, continued into Thursday and Friday. They and the defense both have 24 hours to lay out their arguments, spread across several days.
