Impact Wrestling is upping its production of original content for the social live streaming platform Twitch, the company announced Tuesday.
The expansion is part of a renewed content agreement between the two companies that will include original weekly programming, pre and post-show content, live monthly specials, weekly airings of “Xplosion” that will feature never-before-seen matches and IRL (in real life) first-person streams from wrestling stars.
The agreement also includes the weekly premiere of the company’s flagship two-hour show Impact!, streaming on Friday nights at 7:00 p.m. PT. Impact first began streaming the flagship series on Twitch in January and has since committed to growing the professional wrestling community on the platform, according to president of Impact Wrestling Ed Nordholm.
“We have grown our subscriber and follower bases significantly, while spreading our reach to new audiences,” Nordholm said. “With our increased slate of exclusive content hosted by the likes of Melissa Santos, Don Callis and top Wrestling stars, fans have been able to interact with our larger-than-life personalities like never before.”
“Impact Wrestling has quickly established itself as a leading wrestling channel on our platform,” said Jane Weedon, director of business development at Twitch. “We are excited by the potential to expand on the content delivered by Impact Wrestling to the Twitch community, and their commitment to delivering live, shared, interactive and entertaining experiences for our audiences.”
Impact Wrestling, formerly known as TNA, originally launched Impact! in 2002. The series has since been televised globally in 120 countries, while growing its reach on YouTube, Twitch, Pluto and other social media platforms. Impact Wrestling is a subsidary of Anthem Sports & Entertainment, a broadcasting and production company based in Toronto.
