Warner Bros. Pictures and IMAX said Thursday that they have agreed to release up to 20 of the studio's films on the giant-screen format over the next three years.
The studio plans to screen upcoming releases like "Jack the Giant Slayer," "300: Rise of an Empire," and "The Hobbit: the Desolation of Smaug," on IMAX screens next year.
The two movie companies signed off on a similar, 20-film deal in 2010, which included the 2012 releases of "Dark Shadows" and "The Dark Knight Rises."
"Together with IMAX and our exhibitor partners, we have built a unique, incremental distribution platform over the last 10 years,” Dan Fellman, Warner Bros. Pictures' president of domestic distribution, said in a statement. "We are excited to continue this tradition and offer these films to audiences in the most premium of moviegoing experiences."
