(Update 4:30 p.m. PST: IFC just announced it has acquired two more genre movies — Miguel Angel Vivas's home invasion thriller "Kidnapped" and Manuel Carballo's supernatural chiller "Exorcismus." Both films will be released through the IFC Midnight label theatrically and on their video on demand platform in early 2011.)
IFC Films' genre label IFC Midnight has acquired U.S. rights to the Adrien Brody movie "Wrecked" from Entertainment One, IFC announced on Friday.
The psychological thriller marks the directorial debut of Michael Greenspan, who worked from a screenplay by Christopher Dodd.
Brody stars as a man who awakens in a mangled car-wreck with no memory of who he is or how he got there. His only company is a crackling radio reporting a violent bank robbery gone wrong and a corpse in the back seat with a wallet identifying him as one of the perpetrators. He must discover his identity while confronting obstacles that are both real and imagined.
Kyle Mann developed, produced and co- financed "Wrecked" (with Telefilm Canada) through his newly-formed production company, Independent Edge, while Brody served as exec producer.
"Wrecked" premiered at the Abu Dhabi Film Festival, and IFC will release the picture in spring 2011.
