“The Hunger Games: Mockingjay, Part 2” surpassed the $200 million mark at the domestic box office, distributor Lionsgate announced on Tuesday.
The finale in the young adult franchise starring Jennifer Lawrence grossed an estimated $2.53 million on Monday to lift its domestic total to $201 million after 11 full days in release. The film is approaching $450 million worldwide.
The four-film franchise based on Suzanne Collins‘ bestselling novels has taken in more than $2.7 billion at the global box office since debuting in 2012.
Produced by Nina Jacobson and Jon Kilik, the film co-stars Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson, Elizabeth Banks, Julianne Moore, Sam Claflin, Jena Malone, Philip Seymour Hoffman (in his final film role), and Donald Sutherland.
“Mockingjay, Part 2” was directed by Francis Lawrence, with a screenplay by Peter Craig and Danny Strong.
