Tickets to “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” will go on sale beginning Oct. 1, Lionsgate said Friday.
For fans with a stopwatch in hand, the frenzied buying will kick off at noon ET/9 a.m. PT. The film opens on Nov. 22.
To get moviegoers in that Panem state of mind, Lionsgate has debuted the first song from the official “Catching Fire” soundtrack, a Coldplay track called “Atlas,” available for download on iTunes.
And to register their feverish anticipation, fans of the hit film are being encouraged by the company to use the hashtag #TickTock12 across all social media this week.
“The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, Liam Hemsworth, Woody Harrelson and Philip Seymour Hoffman. It’s directed by Francis Lawrence — taking over from Gary Ross, who guided the first movie to roughly $700 million at the worldwide box office.
The film takes up with Katniss Everdeen after she has survived a series of gladiatorial contests, with her fighting spirit stirring the first embers of rebellion among the dispossessed members of her futuristic society.
