"The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" has added Maria Howell to the cast, Lionsgate said Monday.
Howell, a voiceover artist and actress, will play Seeder in the sequel to the blockbuster adaptation of Suzanne Collins' young adult novels. In the book, Seeder is one of the competitors in the gladiatorial games at the center of the story.
Howell has appeared in such movies as “The Color Purple" and on television in "Army Wives," "The Vampire Diaries" and "House of Payne."

The film is directed by Francis Lawrence ("I Am Legend") with Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth returning to their roles in the previous movie. Philip Seymour Hoffman, Amanda Plummer and Jena Malone are among the new additions to "The Hunger Games" world.
Lionsgate will release "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire" on Nov. 22, 2013.
