The off-beat character actress will bring her kooky charm to "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire," Lionsgate said Tuesday.

Plummer, best known for playing a sweaty hold-up crook in "Pulp Fiction" and the object of Robin Williams' affections in "The Fisher King," will portray Wiress. In the book, her untraditional approach leads the fellow tributes to give her the nickname "Nuts."

Plummer, the daughter of Christopher Plummer, has won Tony and Emmy awards in her career, but has been absent from mainstream cinema in recent years.

"Catching Fire" is about as broadly appealing as films get, with "The Hunger Games" racking up more than $680 million worldwide.

The film will be directed by Francis Lawrence ("I Am Legend") and stars Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson and Liam Hemsworth. It opens in theaters on November 22, 2013.
