Spanning 14 volumes, which were eventually completed by author Brandon Sanderson after Jordan’s death, “The Wheel of Time” is a sprawling fantasy tale full of magic, intrigue and a Chosen One narrative that drives the plot – at least at first.

The first three episodes of “The Wheel of Time” were released Friday, Nov. 19 on Amazon Prime Video.
Is “The Wheel of Time” Being Released Weekly or All at Once?
After dropping the first three episodes on Nov. 19, Amazon will release each new episode weekly on Fridays on Amazon Prime Video. There are eight episodes in total in the show’s first season.
What Is “The Wheel of Time” About?
Not unlike other fantasy stories, the plot of “The Wheel of Time” is tough to succinctly describe. The official synopsis from Amazon describes it thusly:
“Set in a sprawling, epic world where magic exists and only certain women are allowed to access it, the story follows Moiraine (Rosamund Pike), a member of the incredibly powerful all-female organization called the Aes Sedai, as she arrives in the small town of Two Rivers. There, she embarks on a dangerous, world-spanning journey with five young men and women, one of whom is prophesied to be the Dragon Reborn, who will either save or destroy humanity.”
The journey of the show’s first season largely consists of Moiraine trying to keep these five individuals alive as they’re pursued by the Dark One, who aims to destroy the Dragon Reborn before he or she announces him or herself.
