DreamWorks has set another “How to Train Your Dragon” spinoff, this one at both Hulu and Peacock, titled “Dragons: The Nine Realms.”
The series stars Jeremy Shada and is from John Tellegen, a writer for two pervious TV spinoffs of the franchise that aired on Netflix. Tellegen will be showrunner. Chuck Austen and Henry Gilroy will executive produce, with Beth Sleven as supervising producer.
You can watch a teaser for the series, which premieres Dec. 23 on Hulu and Peacock, in the video above.
Here is the logline for the series:
Set 1,300 years after the events of “How To Train Your Dragon,” dragons are now just a legend to the modern world. When a geological anomaly opens up an immense, miles-deep fissure in the Earth’s surface, scientists from all over the world gather at a new research facility to study the mysterious phenomenon. Soon a group of misfit kids, brought to the site by their parents, uncover the truth about dragons and where they’ve been hiding — a secret they must keep to themselves to protect what they’ve discovered.
The “How to Train Your Dragon” franchise consists of three feature films: “How to Train Your Dragon,” “How to Train Your Dragon 2” and “How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World.” All three starred Jay Baruchel in the title role. It also spawned five short films and three prior TV series.
