The season finale of “House of the Dragon” leaked on torrent sites early Friday, two days before it debuts on HBO and HBO Max.
“We are aware that the 10th episode of ‘House of the Dragon’ has been posted on illegal torrent sites,” an HBO spokesperson said in a statement to TheWrap. “It appears to have originated from a distribution partner in the EMEA [Europe, the Middle East and Africa] region. HBO is aggressively monitoring and pulling these copies from the internet. We’re disappointed that this unlawful action has disrupted the viewing experience for loyal fans of the show, who will get to see a pristine version of the episode when it premieres Sunday on HBO and HBO Max, where it will stream exclusively in 4K.”
The franchise is no stranger to leaks as previous episodes of “Game of Thrones” have leaked online before their airdates. For example, the “Game of Thrones” eighth and final season alone had about four leaks.
The current Season 1 finale of “House of the Dragon” is titled “The Black Queen.”
House of the Dragon” centers on who will take over the Iron Throne after King Viserys I, which in the history of George R.R. Martin’s books resulted in a great civil war that tore the Targaryen family apart.
On one side were those who supported Viserys’ daughter Rhaenyra Targaryen (Emma D’Arcy), and on the other side were those who thought Visery’s eldest son by his second wife, Queen Alicent (played in the show by Olivia Cooke), should take up the throne.
