‘Homeland’ Season 5 Trailer Teases CIA’s Unshakable Hold on Carrie (Video)

Claire Danes, Mandy Patinkin star on Showtime’s long-running CIA thriller

Carrie Mathison is attempting to live a normal life in “Homeland” Season 5, but naturally that turns out to be too much to ask for, as revealed in the new trailer for the Showtime thriller’s return.

Much like in the new season’s first teaser, the trailer follows Carrie (Claire Danes) as she attempts to leave the CIA behind and make a new life for herself with her child and new boyfriend in Berlin.

But as the trailer says, “You can take the girl out of the CIA, but…”

Carrie soon finds herself being drawn back into the dangers of her past, getting kidnapped seemingly not once but at least twice in the trailer alone, and Saul (Mandy Patinkin) and Quinn (Rupert Friend) soon cross her path once again.

Produced by Fox 21 Television Studios, “Homeland” was developed for American television by Alex Gansa and Howard Gordon, and is based on the original Israeli series “Prisoners of War” by Gideon Raff. Along with Gansa and Gordon, the executive producers for season five are Meredith Stiehm, Patrick Harbinson, Chip Johannessen, Alexander Cary, Lesli Linka Glatter, Gideon Raff, Avi Nir and Ran Telem.

The 12-episode fifth season of “Homeland” will premiere Sunday at 9 p.m. ET on Showtime.
