‘Homeland’ and ‘Masters of Sex’ Renewed by Showtime

Both series will return with 12 new episodes next year

Showtime has renewed its hit spy drama “Homeland” for another season, as well as its freshman drama “Masters of Sex,” the network said Tuesday.

This will make the fourth season for “Homeland,” and the second for “Masters of Sex.”

Both shows have received orders for 12 one-hour episodes, and will premiere their new seasons next year.

The current season of “Homeland” has averaged 6.5 million total viewers, a 26 percent improvement over its second season in the same time frame.

“Masters of Sex,” meanwhile — which stars Michael Sheen and Lizzy Caplan as sex researchers William Masters and Virginia Johnson — has averaged 5.4 million total viewers in its freshman season. So far, “Masters of Sex” has averaged 33 percent better than “Homeland”s’ maiden season in the same time frame.
