Actress Holland Taylor has revealed she’s in a loving relationship with a woman — but don’t consider it a coming out for the 72-year-old. It’s more of a clarification, she said.
In an interview with New York radio station WNYC, Taylor said she’s considering marriage to her younger female partner — a luxury she would never have previously humored at her age.
“Given my generation it would not be something that would automatically occur to me. But she’s mentioned it because just from a spiritual point of view, from a heart point of view,” Holland said of tying the knot.
The “Two and a Half Men” star and celebrated stage actress elaborated on privacy, seeming uneasy with a modern celebrity culture that demands personal details.
“It’s awkward because if I talk about relationships in my life or people that have been in my life … I’d like to be able to just say that, without having to stop and say, ‘so have you come out?’ No, I haven’t come out because I am out. I live out,” she said.
Taylor did touch on their difference in years, however.
“There’s a very big age difference between us which I’m sure shocks a lot of people, and it startles me,” she said. “But as they say, ‘If she dies, she dies.’”
Taylor most recently starred in the acclaimed Broadway production “Ann.” She’s attached to an upcoming project called “Broken Heart, MO,” which follows love stories across generations, co-starring Jenna Elfman and Dylan Walsh.
