History channel president and general manager Jana Bennett is stepping down from her post, the network announced Friday.
The executive took the top post on the cable network in 2015, where she succeeded Dirk Hoogstra.
Paul Cabana, History’s SVP of Programming, will oversee the channel until a new president and GM is named.
“This spring, Jana came to me and told me that she wanted to split her time between London and NY and start a new entrepreneurial venture aimed at creating the best of British and American content for both markets,” A+E CEO Nancy Dubuc said in a note to staffers announcing Bennett’s departure.
Bennett’s exit will bring in History’s third president in as many years. She previously oversaw the launch of A+E’s FYI network.
