Angry Hillary Clinton Blasts GOP on ‘Today’ for ‘Making a Partisan Political Issue’ Out of Benghazi Deaths (Video)

“If I were president and there were Republicans or Democrats thinking about that, I would have done everything to shut it down,” politician tells co-host Savannah Guthrie

Hillary Clinton fired back at Republicans on Monday during a town hall interview with NBC’s “Today” show, where she suggested the Benghazi committee is merely a political witch hunt against her.

“The real issue here is what happened to four brave Americans,” a visibly angry Clinton told Savannah Guthrie while discussing the diplomats who died on Sept. 11, 2012. “This committee was set up, as they have admitted, for the purpose of making a partisan political issue out of the deaths of four Americans.”

“I would never have done that, and if I were president and there were Republicans or Democrats thinking about that, I would have done everything to shut it down,” she said.

Clinton also responded to the latest mass shooting, calling for tighter gun control laws.

“I really do want to push hard to get more sensible restraints on gun ownership in the wrong hands and then to try to keep track of people who shouldn’t have guns,” she said, adding that she wants to “work with Congress” to do so.
