“Haunted Mansion” fans, you might not be getting a cartoon spin-off from the Eddie Murphy movie, but a trailer for the show that might have been has been released.
Shannon Tindle tweeted out the video over the holiday weekend. “A little something I was cooking up at Disney, but was unfortunately scuttled,” said the “Kubo and the Two Strings” creator, thanking “Blackish” star Marsai Martin for voicing the teaser and artists Sunmin Inn, Matt Williames and Rachelle Reyes for their contributions on the video.

Tindle had ideas for a limited series or ongoing “Haunted Mansion” series, according to website Cartoon Brew. The pilot was commissioned by Disney but never picked up for a full series.
“My goal was to take inspiration from all the backstories created by the artists at WED [the name of Disney’s Imagineering division] and stitch it into one, giant narrative,” Tindle told Cartoon Brew. “The story would span several years and focus on different characters, but add up to one big, interconnected story.”
Although the project never moved forward, Tindle said “everyone at TVA was incredibly supportive. I’m in good company when it comes to valiant attempts to bring this world to life.”
Disney did not immediately respond to TheWrap’s request for comment.
