HBO has ordered four more specials from Jessica Williams and Phoebe Robinson’s “2 Dope Queens,” the network said Monday. The hour-long specials based on the WNYC podcast of the same name will arrive next year.
The show premiered on HBO last February featuring guests like Uzo Aduba, Tituss Burgess, Sarah Jessica Parker and Jon Stewart, and was directed by Tig Notaro. Williams and Robinson started the podcast in 2016 to talk with their friends and favorite comedians about sex and romance, race, living in New York and more.
Since starting “2 Dope Queens,” both hosts have expanded their credits to TV and movies. Williams can be seen in the upcoming “Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald” as Professor Eulalie “Lally” Hicks, and Robinson recently appeared with Gillian Jacobs and Vanessa Bayer in Netflix’s “Ibiza.”
Williams and Robinson executive produce Season 2 along with Amy Aniobi, Carrie Byalick, Chenoa Estrada, Jon Thoday, Richard Allen Turner and David Martin; executive producers also included Ravi Nandan and John Hodges. “2 Dope Queens” is produced by A24.
