With a lineup including the likes of Lady Gaga, Lorde, and Kendrick Lamar, it’s hard to imagine that somebody else would steal the show, but that’s what Hans Zimmer did at Coachella this past weekend.
Zimmer is of course the legendary composer behind some of the most famous movie scores, including “Inception,” “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “Interstellar,” and the Christopher Nolan “Batman” films. On Sunday, he took to the stage with a full orchestra to perform some of his greatest hits.
According to setlist.fm, Zimmer began his set with two tracks from “Inception,” followed by stuff from “Pirates of the Caribbean,” “The Lion King,” “Gladiator,” and “The Dark Knight,” before finishing up with “Inception” once more.
What’s most impressive about the performance is the scope of it. Zimmer doesn’t just conduct his giant orchestra — he also performed, picking up multiple instruments throughout the songs. The band was backed by a colorful visualization.
Zimmer and his crew are set to head out on an international tour next month, starting in Helsinki and moving across Europe before heading over to the United States.
