A 7.1 Southern California quake Friday evening had celebrities expressing concern over its intensity, and sympathy for people and pets affected by it.
The quake, which struck at 8:19 p.m., had its epicenter near the town of Ridgecrest in the Searles Valley — the same region as the 6.4 magnitude quake that shook greater Los Angeles around 10:30 AM Thursday.
“I feel bad for every animal thats [sic] dealing with earthquakes and fireworks this week 🙁 pls keep ur babies close,” singer Halsey tweeted Friday. “I miss mine so so so much and wish I could hold him.”
“Just heard about the earthquake in LA. Sending love to all my friends, family and, colleagues out there. Stay safe,” said Mark Ruffalo.
“That earthquake was intense,” rapper Nikki Minaj put it succinctly.
Friday’s temblor follows a 5.4 magnitude earthquake that rattled the area around 4:07 a.m. Friday, but according to USGS Seismologist Dr. Lucy Jones, it and the July 4 quake are now understood to be foreshocks to the Friday night quake.
“That earthquake was terrifying. Really thought it was the one,” “Stuber” star Kumail Nanjiani said.

It all seriousness, drop down and get under the strongest table or desk you have, cover your head, try to stay away from glass, keep slippers by the side of your bed in case one happens at night, hold on and wait it out. #earthquake

Sitting in Dodger Stadium experiencing an #earthquake with 50,000 other people was unreal. Everyone trying to act casual but you can tell they are shaken.
