You’ll soon have another streaming option for Hallmark Christmas movies. Peacock has entered into an agreement with Hallmark Media to stream both live and on-demand programming from Hallmark Channel, Hallmark Movies & Mysteries and Hallmark Drama as part of a linear plus SVOD deal for the network.
Starting Wednesday, Nov. 2, there will be a dedicated Hallmark brand hub on Peacock as a destination for all things Hallmark, including live simulcasts of all three channels with current season programming available live and on-demand the next day, as well as the robust library of movies in the Hallmark library – including holiday favorites.
This launches just in time for Hallmark’s busiest time of the year, as it rolls out 40 new Christmas movies in 2022, all of which will be available to stream on Peacock throughout the season.
Prior to this deal, the only streaming option for Hallmark movies was the Hallmark Movies Now service.
Sources tell TheWrap that while Peacock Plus (which is $9.99 a month instead of Premium’s $4.99 a month) usually provides content without ads, Hallmark channel content will still have ads due to streaming rights. A small amount of Peacock programming still contains ads for Premium customers, but the service still has one of the lowest ad loads in streaming.
“As we continue to make Peacock a premium streaming destination, Hallmark is exactly the type of brand we want to align with,” said Kelly Campbell, President of Peacock, and Direct-to-Consumer, NBCUniversal. “Through this groundbreaking partnership, we’re giving Hallmark viewers a unique viewing experience while continuing to grow our audience, boosting engagement across both brands.”
“We’re proud to enter this partnership with Peacock and bring our widely beloved Hallmark content to their subscribers,” said Wonya Lucas, President & CEO, Hallmark Media. “The opportunity to provide our devoted fanbase access to all three of Hallmark’s linear networks will allow our audience to continue to grow and connect in meaningful ways.”
In addition to the live Hallmark channels, Peacock subscribers have access to the collection of Hallmark content on demand, including live and next-day access to series such as fan favorite, “When Calls the Heart,” plus Hallmark’s new, original primetime series “Ride” and “The Way Home,” premiering in 2023.
The Hallmark-branded hub will also include a VOD collection containing new premiere movies and dozens of Hallmark movie classics all included with a Peacock Premium subscription.
Peacock Premium is $4.99 a month.
