Halle Berry and Daniel Craig‘s “Kings” has been acquired by The Orchard, who will release the L.A. riots drama in North America.
Written and directed by Academy Award nominnee Deniz Gamze Ergüven (“Mustang”), the deal was closed late Friday in Cannes. It’s set to hit theaters this fall.
The film follows a foster family’s arrival to Los Angeles weeks before the city erupts in violence following the 1992 verdict of the Rodney King trial.
The project was produced and co-financed by Charles Gillibert of CG Cinema. Trudie Styler, Celine Rattray and Charlotte Ubben of Maven Pictures eecutive produced with Wei Han of Bliss Media, with both companies co-financing.
Vincent Maraval, also an EP, and his company Insiders will handle international sales. Danielle DiGiacomo led the deal for Orchard, with CAA repping the filmmakers.
