Halle Berry has signed on to co-star alongside Keanu Reeves in “John Wick: Chapter 3,” the next installment in the Lionsgate action thriller series, the studio announced Monday.

The film, currently in production, will pick up after the events of “Chapter 2.” John Wick (Keanu Reeves), a legendary hit man, is on the run with a $14 million bounty on his head after killing a member of the High Table, the international assassin’s guild. Wick has a one-hour grace period before his membership is revoked, and he’s banned from all services and cut off from other members. He uses the service industry to stay alive as he fights and kills his way out of New York City.

The studio has yet to share details on Berry’s role, but, according to The Hollywood Reporter, she will not be playing a villain of the film. “John Wick: Chapter 3” has set a May 17, 2019 release date.

The Oscar-winner last appeared in “The Kingsman: The Golden Circle.”

Anjelica Huston, Asia Kate Dillon (“Billions”), Mark Dacascos (“Hawaii Five-0”) and Jason Mantzoukas will also join the star-studded cast, Lionsgate added in its Monday announcement.

“John Wick: Chapter 3” will see Chad Stahelski, who’s been at the helm for the first two films in the series, return to the director’s chair for “Chapter 3.”

The script was penned by Derek Kolstad and his writing team Chris Collins and Marc Abrams and Shay Hatten.

Thunder Road Pictures’ Basil Iwanyk and Erica Lee are producing in association with 87Eleven Productions.
