Hailee Steinfeld may become the next actress to play Juliet on the big screen.
The 14-year-old "True Grit" Oscar nominee is in talks to join the cast of Carlo Carlei's adaptation of William Shakespeare's "Romeo and Juliet," TheWrap has confirmed.
Julian Fellowes, who won the best screenplay Oscar for 2001's "Gosford Park" is adapting the Bard's play.
Gabriele Muccino, who directed "The Pursuit of Happyness" and "Seven Pounds," is producing along with Fellowes and Ileen Maisel and Mark Ordesky.
Steinfeld would join the long line of actresses that have played the role of Juliet in the drama about two teens from feuding families who fall in love. Claire Danes, Olivia Hussey and Norma Shearer are among those that have previously done the honors.
Steinfeld is represented by ICM.
