Hachette Book Group announced Thursday that it had “terminated” its deal with Weinstein Books in the wake of the sexual misconduct scandal surrounding ousted Weinstein Company co-founder Harvey Weinstein.
The top book publisher’s Perseus Books division had a co-publishing deal with The Weinstein Company that accounted for about 10 titles per year.
“Morning Joe” co-host Mika Brzezinski, who had a three-book deal with the imprint, announced over the weekend that she would cancel the arrangement if Harvey Weinstein still ran the company.
The mogul was fired on Sunday by the company’s board following public disclosure of paid settlements to women who claimed sexual misconduct over three decades.
According to Hachette, titles already signed to Weinstein Books will be published through the Hachette Books imprint and its two full-time staffers will be absorbed by Hachette.
Upcoming titles include Iliza Schlesinger’s “Girl Logic,” Kathy Freston and Bruce Friedrich’s “Clean Protein” and a new edition of Abdel Sellou’s memoir that ties into the TWC movie adaptation “The Upside.”
