Warner Bros. plans to release "Pacific Rim," Legendary Pictures' movie about enormous monsters that crawl out of the sea, and the human pilots who drive the gigantic robots that fight them, on July 12, 2013.
Guillermo del Toro (left) is directing the movie. Idris Elba and Charlie Hunnam star, and Charlie Day is in talks to join the cast.
Warners also announced Monday that "Contagion," the Matt Damon, Kate Winslet, Jude Law, Marion Cotillard drama about a deadly virus, will be released Sept. 9, 2011 instead of Oct. 21. Steven Soderbergh is directing that movie.
"Pacific Rim" starts shooting in Toronto this summer.
Travis Beacham wrote the movie.
